“Support for a Century” Campaign – October 6th/7th
We kick off the “Support for a Century” campaign the weekend of October 6th and 7th. This is when Mr. Anderson will speak at each of the four Masses at the Church of the Assumption about the School Foundation and what these donations go for each year (tuition assistance, operations, and endowment). We are looking for ALL students to wear their uniforms to Mass this weekend. Students are also invited to be greeters, choir members, cantors, and bringing up the gifts. If your child is a trained lector, this would also be a great weekend to have him/her on the schedule at any of the Masses. ALL REGISTERED CHOIR MEMBERS should plan to be at the 5 pm mass on Saturday, October 6th at Assumption. Rehearsal for choir begins at 3:45 pm.
Holy Hoops – SIGN-UPS DUE THURSDAY!
Love, Faith, and BASKETBALL – our 4th Annual Holy Hoops 4:4 Basketball Tournament is coming soon and SIGN-UPS ARE DUE THURSDAY!!!!!
Holy Hoops is only a few weeks away and we still need a few more students to turn in their registration forms! BONUS: All participants will be excused for a few days from homework during the week of tournament!
Holy Hoops will run from October 23rd -26th and students will only be expected to be present for their games which are held between the hours of 3-6 each day of the tournament. No Basketball experience is required and if your student has other obligations we can work it with their schedules; we can other players take their spots for games if need be. Participant Form
We will have an all participant meeting October 8th. All students who have signed up will need to meet in Mrs. VonFeldt’s room at 11:30 (during lunch). Students will need to bring their lunches to the meeting. The Holy Hoops Committee will provide a treat for all the student participants. During the meeting, we will be assigning teams and also discussing team names (which are the names of Saints, so please come ready with ideas about which Saint you would like your team to represent). Tournament chairs will also be present to help answer any questions.

We need alumni to coach! We are seeking ACS alumni to coach the teams. This is a wonderful opportunity to give back to the school and get those service hours that all college love to see on their applications! 😊 If you have an older child that would like to help, please complete the coaches form by October 4th. The music room will be set up for the coaches to study and we provide meals for them every day. Coaching Form
Parent Volunteers – a sign up genius will be coming out early next week as we need parents to help run the score clock, keep score, referee and help with coach’s meals.
Sponsorship Opportunities! To keep this a free tournament for the students, we are looking for sponsors to cover the cost of t-shirts, food and support for the coaches and prizes for the winning teams and individual skills competition. 8th grade concessions – the 8th grade class will be hosting the concession stand this year as a fundraiser for their trip to Washington DC and they are cooking up some great ideas on wonderful food. 8th grade families will have a separate Sign Up Genius to sign up to help with this.

The school is in need of a 3-5-year technology plan and we are looking for parents and teachers to help create and implement this. Meetings will be monthly starting in November and the commitment will last through the 2019-2020 school year. “Growing Great Kids”
Mark your calendars for the Growing Great Kids Auction and Gala on March 2, 2019! Our school’s largest fundraiser is a fabulous time with our wonderful school parents, staff, and invited friends in an elegant and fun night out.
Each Assumption family is responsible for procuring or donating an item, goods or service worth $200. Have fun with this! Do you have a vacation house that would make a great get away? Do you have season tickets to sporting events? Do you have a talent that would go toward a great donation? We have many ideas and specific needs for our event this year, so if you need a little inspiration don’t hesitate to contact the auction chairs, or check our list of ideas on the school website Auction page. Please also consider soliciting a donation from your favorite business–many companies love giving back and are willing to donate if you ask.
Each family must complete a procurement form no later than Friday, November 30. You will find a hardcopy form in the Wednesday envelope this week or you can grab one from the office. Assumption Catholic School has launched a goal for the 2018-19 school year to earn $1,000 from the Box Tops for Education program. Sehome High School Jr. Cheer Clinic
Learn from one of our alumni, Maddy Reyes, and her cheer squad in this clinic for K-8th grade students on Friday, October 12th. Take what you’ve learned and cheer at the football game on Saturday, Oct. 13th. All are invited. See the flier attached to this week’s news for more details.
Fulfill Volunteer Hours AND Cheer on our Cross Country Athletes!
Assumption Catholic School is teaming up again this year with St. Paul’s Academy to host a cross country meet at Cornwall Park on October 4th from 3:30 – 5:30 pm.
We are looking for several volunteers to help make this meet run smoothly for our runners. It would be approximately a 2-hour commitment. Volunteers would help with parking, be stationed along the route and assist at the finish line.

CS First Computer Science for girls in grades 4-8

This is a program for students in grades 4-8 and will begin on Friday, October 5th. Practices run every week from 3:15 to 4:30 pm and the cost is $75 per student. Scholarships are available from the Assumption PTC, if needed. Thank you to our coaches: Nancy Chen and Nathan Chen for 4th/5th grades, Arpad Benyi for 6th grade, and Mark Claret for 7th/8th grades. Look for registration in this week’s envelope. Note: Middle school students in the Math Olympiad elective still need to fill out the registration form and pay the fee.

Attached you will find an announcement of our “Prayer for Repentance and Healing,” to take place at St. James Cathedral, October 4, at 7:00 pm. If you cannot attend, you may consider praying the Novena for repentance and healing starting from October 4th instead.

- Parent volunteers to help with the CS First Computer Science Club every Wednesday from 3:15 to 4:15 beginning on November 7th.
- Technology Committee- Thank you to Ashley Vincent and Dan Smith who will be continuing in this committee. We are looking for 2-3 more parents with a software and/or educational technology background willing to help us form our technology plan for the next 3-5 years. October 10th– PTC General Meeting begins at 6:45 pm in the school library with a principal’s update followed by information on FACTS Tuition Management at 7 pm. Students receive free dress on Thursday, Oct. 11th if a parent attends!
