First Grade News

This week, we continued to work on daily routines. We had all of the school specialist classes. In Language Arts, we read the book Lunch and discussed the concepts of prediction and confirmation of ideas. We looked at the color words and noticed patterns and similarities of words. We reviewed letter sounds and practiced handwriting. We started making books to share with our classmates and parents. In Math, we reviewed concepts of more, less and equal. We also looked at number groups 0-5. Religion time was spent learning about our Catholic Church community. We were introduced to the Second Step Program, attended weekly Mass, and prepared for Sunday's Gospel. We have had a busy week and deserve a restful weekend.

Next week, we will continue to work on routines and schedules. We will look at shape and size words in Language Arts and begin journal writing. We will continue to review letter sounds and practice letter and number formation. In math, we will look at number groups 6-12 and begin problem-solving strategies. We will continue to explore our church community in Religion.
